Tundish castables are mainly tundish permanent layer castables. Application of Tundish Lining Refractory Castables. The tundish lining is divided into a permanent layer and a working layer with refractory material.

The tundish permanent layer lining, according to different customer needs, design a variety of high-temperature refractory masonry to form the tundish permanent layer lining. The common tundish permanent layer is lined with ceramic fiber blankets, clay bricks, and refractory castables. Specifically, the actual tundish permanent layer lining is mainly used.

The tundish is thermal equipment used to contain molten steel and distribute and circulate it. In the process of dressing and circulation, it is also required to have a certain thermal insulation performance. In order to avoid the drop in molten steel temperature and affect the high-temperature performance of the billet.

The tundish working layer is lined with siliceous refractories and magnesia refractories. The appropriate refractory material is selected according to the needs of the steel mill. The permanent layer refractories are mostly high-alumina refractories with good thermal shock properties. Application of Tundish Lining Refractory Castables.

The permanent lining of the tundish is initially built with refractory bricks such as clay bricks, fired or unfired high-alumina bricks. The brick permanent lining has a short service life, high labor intensity, and high cost. With the advancement of amorphous refractory technology, the permanent lining of the tundish has gradually developed from brickwork to plastic, ramming material ramming construction, and refractory castable pouring construction. At present, water glass combined with aluminum-magnesium castables, low-cement high-alumina castables, cement-free high-alumina spinel castables, and self-flowing castables is commonly used for masonry. The permanent lining thickness of medium and small tundish is generally about 100~120mm, and the permanent lining thickness of large tundish is about 150~200mm.

Generally, self-flowing castables are used to cast permanent layers. It has good fluidity and can be constructed without vibration or slight vibration, especially for thin-walled parts. The tundish permanent layer castable is made of high alumina bauxite and corundum as the main refractory raw materials. A low-cement refractory castable is made by adding reinforcing fibers, binders, and additives after mixing. When in use, the lining can be completed by pouring. Pouring material with high-temperature resistance, erosion resistance, and thermal shock resistance. Application of Tundish Lining Refractory Castables.

The tundish permanent layer castable is not easy to sinter with the working layer, which is convenient for the maintenance of the inner lining of the working layer. The volume is stable at high temperatures, and the poured lining will not expand or shrink too much at high temperatures. The service life of the overall lining of the tundish is improved.

The application of refractory castables for the tundish lining also needs to be determined according to the actual smelting situation of the steel mill and the use of the tundish. Rongsheng refractory factory can customize refractory castables for tundish linings for you.
